Thank you so much for posting this. I totally agree with everything you say.

The only thing I would add is that in addition to learning more about Deeks’ family background (and I am SO disappointed that we will evidently not be meeting his mother this season) I would like to know more about his time as a public defender and why he left to become a cop. The joke he once made about becoming a cop cuz he liked watching CHiPs on TV strikes me as just that – a joke to divert attention from a real, deeper and perhaps more troubling reason.

I would also like to know just how long he was on Hetty’s radar before joining up with NCIS.

This was a great post. Thanks again.

Me too! I want to know how long Hetty had planned on him for the team. I mean I am sure she picked him after Dom went missing, but we also know Hetty has invested way more into her team than that. Was she watching him from early on before Dom went missing?

I’d also like to see more Deeks/Eric interaction. They both like surfing don’t they? It makes sense they would both get together to surf at some point.

I’d also like to see more about Deeks’ time as a public defender! what case made him decide to become a cop?

ahhhhh damn empty captcha lmao… I always hit post and forget to enter the code…

I agree with you, Di, and I really do hope they peel off some of the layers and show us what makes Deeks who he is. However, I hope they still keep his humor because that defines him and it also helps him cope with his life’s adversities, and now more than ever he will need the humor to sustain him. I know too many people like him (mostly first responders and emergency personnel and the humor, even deprecating humor, is what keeps them going. I may even have the same “problem.” It’s endemic in those fields. But I want them to delve into his “tears of the clown.” That will make for amazing television from an amazing show.

You have summed it up very nicely. I so agree with everything you posted. I do want him to keep his wonderful sense of humor – especially with Kensi. Those banters they have are priceless 🙂
Densi has to remain together. Fine, Daniela obviously can’t go chasing bad guys and risk getting shot at when she is pregnant. So I can see that they may have to split up as partners for a bit. But she could take a desk job and still be involved in NCIS LA’s cases. Maybe Deeks could have another partner just for the time that Kensi is pregnant. That could be another storyline – Kensi not being happy with Deeks’s new partner even though she knows it’s only temporary. (Could be a hot blond!!!) But Deeks even though he may be tempted would always come back to Kensi 🙂 I really hope that when they said that one of the characters would be leaving at the end of the season that it’s NOT Deeks or Kensi. That would just spoil the entire program for me. I just gotta have my Densi!!!!!!

I agree with you on some things.
I’m not a good person. Maybe.
I think that Martin Deeks is a magnificent character.
But I also believe that he is not goofy, or clown or Shaggy!
Rather, I think that Martin is a person with down to earth, very private and extremely sad.
He is a good person and smiling. And I think that Max Gentry aid him to be so!
I want Martin cop forever. Not NCIS agent.
I want also that Kensi and Sam pay dearly. They have always been rather stupid and cruel.
I really hope Martin is very strict with them.
Kensi has to become an adult woman, she has to mature.
She seems a teenager full of pimples, sexually infatuated by his partner.
This is not the basis for an important love. Martin he knows, and that’s why he does not move in any direction!
Also I would like to know about his childhood, his mom or why he became a cop or why you become a lawyer.
Two things are absolutely true: Hetty & Max loves Martin.
This seems to me a really good start to the season 5.

    Hi from Roma (14.06).

Ok everyone – less than 24 hours and counting down……I can’t wait. Got my box of kleenex ready. I just want to see Deeks back up on his feet and with Kensi…..

Good article, and I agree with all you say. First, though, I have to say “Wow” how much do I love this picture of Deeks! Definitely my favorite.

I wish they would do an episode called “Deeks, M.” like they have done for the others, focused on him, and filling in some of the mystery of his background and motivations. Perhaps then I might stop worrying, which I do still, just a little bit in the back of my mind, that he could be written out, like Dom was, and Kate and now Ziva. Or Nate who is just a walk-on. Did Sam have one? Maybe I am just a worry-wort because clearly Deeks is a crowd-pleaser and a ratings bringer.

The character is a complex one and with the brilliant acting by Mr. Olsen (channeling Hetty here) this could be one talked about by film classes for decades.

I forgot to mention that the only thing missing from the episode was a simple hug between Kensi and Deeks. Throughout the episode she was openly making any kind of physical contact with him in order to ease his pain and calm him down.
The perfect timing for the hug was on the rooftop. After everything was over they should embrace each other – of course not romantically – as two really close friends who nearly lost each other.

Amen!…and i would just like to add that they better not lose Deeks on the show or i will be so screaming mad see the producers! Deeks totally belongs to the show Anne there had better be something that happens diode the good between Deeks and Kensi!
