Our fourth story… 🙂
.The Chin & The Partners. by Manon
‘Come on G., you have almost done it !’, shouted Tom.
What a beautiful day for mountaineering. Snow, sun, fun, everything was present. It was midday, the warmth was at his maximum. Callen was becoming to feel hungry, but couldn’t stop in the middle of the rise ! His partner was already at the top. Tom was really much better than Callen to that. Sure, G. was the best basketball player, he had already proved it, but Heldon dominated the mountain.
‘I’m coming, I’m coming Tom ! Let me 5 minuts. ‘ ‘Ok. 5. And after I eat all meat, I hope it’s motivating you.’ ‘ You were not kidding like that, when you were losing by 17 points, Friday, and I didn’t aet the meet.’
‘ The wind has shifted, partner. As it always has, and as it always will.’, said Tom, stopping laughing.
The wind had really shifted, and was becoming stronger, dangerous. Now Callen was in danger. He slipped but fortunately, Tom had tied the rope on time. His friend moved away from the cliff, because of the wind, and hit it a little violently. But thanks to Tom, he didn’t fall into a chasm. G. was bleeding from the nose and chin. Tom helped him go up to the mountain’s top. He nursed his partner. The nose wasn’t broken, he just has to put some sterile dressings on it. But the injury on the chin was worse. With all the necessary precautions, Heldon stitched up the wound with a few suture points.
‘ You’re alright, men ?’, asked Tom, anxious.
‘Yes, I think I am. I’ve already suffured more, but I had wished someone else, more qualified, stitch me up.’
‘I’m qualified ! I’ve already saved a manikin.’
‘ Ok, I trust you.’
‘ Of course you do, I just hope you don’t care to much about this part of your face.’, answered back Heldon, laughing again and making fun of his partner. ‘ Stand up, we’re coming back to home. I think we’ve done enough sport for today !’.
The two friends carefully descended the moutain, while the sun was coming down. Back in L.A, Callen went to emergencies. His stitches would be taken off in two days, without any traces.
Next day, G. and his partner both went to work, as usual. Hetty had worked for them. They were in the final move of an investigation about an arm dealer. He was localised, it was the final assault. They went to a warehouse, with the rest of the team and some supports. The dealer was here, the shooting started. Callen and Heldon separeted. They were advancing, but the dealer shot Tom with a pump gun. Callen immediatly shot down the man and run to his friend. An ambulance was called, G. was pressuring Tom’s body. But it was over, he died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Callen couldn’t stop thinking about Tom. Tears were flowing along his head. He was afraid of forget about his friend, he wanted to always remember him. He thought about the chin’s thing. Tom was right, he didn’t care about it. He immediatly canceled his emergency appoitment. His put off the suture points alone, before it had totaly cicatrized. And the result was here. The scar would never go off, the souvenirs of his friend either.
