That’s our first glimpse into tonight’s conversation between Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) after their apparent rescue.

Several lives (and perhaps a bit of love) were left in jeopardy as CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles wrapped its fourth season. Tonight at 9/8c, the drama picks up right where it left off, with Deeks being brutally tortured for intel on Quinn and Sam’s wife dangling from a window ledge. (As previously scooped, Michelle is not easily felled.) Here, showrunner Shane Brennan previews the physical and emotional fallout, his big plans for a milestone hour and hints at a midseason surprise.

UPDATE!
The spoilers and teasers have continued to flow fast and furious. It has been revealed the premiere will begin exactly where the finale ended, which possibly includes more bad news for the already-tortured Sam and Deeks. While released set photos show their eventual rescue, the “when” and “how” remain a mystery. In viewing the promo carefully it appears Michelle shoots the still-captured Deeks! What would force her to take such an action? Apparently, viewers will also be treated to a motorcycle chase!
During the recovery phase the now-spoken conflict between Sam and Deeks is addressed. Is this the first step on their path to reconciliation or only another interaction further dividing the team members?
Of course the issue of the “Densi Kiss” must be addressed. That occurrence in addition to the harrowing recent events endured by the entire team will have an expected impact on both Kensi and Deeks. How will they deal these events individually, as partners, and as possibly something more? Again Eric Christian Olsen hints, “It’s one of the few times Deeks is able to… say exactly what he means.” TVGuide.com In considering the direction season 5 is likely to take, these words may likely not result in the happy outcome many viewers are seeking.
Creator Shane Brennan divulged the premiere episode will occur over the course of weeks. How will time affect how each member separately and collectively emerge from their most damaging case to date? In the end, the intensity of the show will be maintained as Eric Christian Olsen discloses even the premiere will provide its own cliffhanger!
