NCIS:LA features Kidlat Knife by Harley Elmore

NCIS:LA is one of the highest rated television shows on T.V. So when my friend and Sayoc Kali brother Rafael Kayanan asked me if I wanted to do a blade for the show I was excited about the opportunity. Rafael, who holds the rank of Tuhon or Master Instructor in Sayoc Kali is more commonly referred to in our circles as Tuhon Raf. He’s been working quite extensively with NCIS:LA Producer / Writer Dave Kalstein on several projects. This particular episode, “Frozen Lake” is stuffed full of lessons straight from Sayoc Kali and begins to really show a depth of understanding by Producer Kalstein. His use of these lessons in the show, the actual application of the martial art of Sayoc Kali and using a Sayoc Kali Full Instructor (me!) to build a blade specifically for a character in the show (that beautiful bad ass Kensi) goes to a depth of character and background development you don’t often see on T.V. I’m no Hollywood expert but I just don’t see that kind of action or character anywhere else on my DVR!.
