I know I can’t let go with the music… 😉
Thanks to our blog readers we now have the lyrics in written words…
I’ve got a small box of memories
that I’ll never let go
it’s all, it’s all just a jigsaw
even as i get older
and there’s still so much that I don’t know
I wish there was more than this empty feeling
that comes at a cost
maybe once you loved me
now your love is long lost
you were standing strong on the shore line
while I built my castles in the sand
and time will wash away kingdom
leave you with nothing
except a reminder in your hand
I wish there was more than this empty feeling
that comes at a cost
maybe once you loved me
now your love is long lost
The line, ” I wish there was more than this empty feeling that comes at a cost. Maybe once you loved me but now your love is long lost”, seems to be a chorus.
It’s NOT “The Grieve” by Peter Gabriel…
Another suggestion was “Long Lost” by Zac Brennan.
Does anyone find anything about him ?? We found *nothing*… 🙁
The song is called An Old Box of Memories and the original was by Pete Wernick, but I can't find who sang it for the show.
thanks for the tipp… but I guess it's not… here's the text http://www.drbanjo.com/instructional-petessonglyrics.php#oldbox and it's really different from what was sung in the episode…
so the searching startes again… 🙂

Someone posted in the comments section of the CBS full video page for this episode that it was Duff Dugan (his song Normal Man was featured in Season 1 episode 7). I admit it does sound like him, but only 6 songs are on Duff Dugan's myspace page and none of them are the “Love is Long Lost” (or whatever it's actually called) song from Deadline. And so the search still continues…
Oops, just saw on another post you've already had this Duff Dugan discussion. Sorry! Keep trying though….
Did anybody who still has the show recorded use SoundHound to try and figure it out?
Yes!! I soundhounded it! No results! 🙁 sooooo sad
@tonymac – thanks for that great idea and @letsfight – thanks for trying it right away… bummer it didn't work… 🙁

Here is a response I received onb IMDB. It makes sense that we can't find this if it is Shane Brennan's son and was recorded for the ep. But let's get this recorded Shane!!!
“G'day dan-124, lyllian6 and rachaella. The song is indeed by Zac Brennan, written to order for that scene. It's not available yet but will be on Zac's next album. Zac is a mate of mine here in Melbourne, Australia, and might just be the son of Shane Brennan, NCIS: LA's head honcho. 😉 He's seriously talented but pretty shy about it, and has no website, recording deal or anything of that kind. He records in his kitchen, pays for the CD manufacture himself and does all of the artwork. If you want one, let me know and I'll get a copy of the record to you, when it's done.”
Thanks, Dan – meanwhile I got the info from another source, too – phew… finally we got our answer… 😉
